Emily Leighty gets creative writing degree

Emily M. Leighty of Berkeley Springs, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in creative writing with a minor in theatre as Susquehanna University Selinsgrove, Pa. closed its 152nd academic year with annual commencement exercises on May 16.

She is the daughter of Gregory Leighty of Hancock and Paula and Richard Masters of Berkeley Springs and a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.
Leighty’s activities at Susquehanna included The Brotherhood, for which she served as secretary and Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honor society. She served as both a resident assistant and head resident, served as Peer Tutor Coordinator for the Writing Center and graduated Magna Cum Laude and Spring Dean’s List.

Susquehanna conferred bachelor’s degrees upon 423 students in the field house of the James W. Garrett Sports Complex.
