Kids Summer camp

Morgan County Observatory Foundation announces the dates for the annual Astronomy/Rocketry kids summer camp this year will be held the weeks of August 2-6 and 9-13 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Camp is geared towards kids from eight-15 years old and includes building and launching model rockets, telescope building, solar viewing, fun hands on activities, movies, games and much more. Each day consists of morning and afternoon rocket launches, midday snack and movie break, along with other astronomy related activities. Kids learn how rockets work by building, launching, recovering and repairing their own model rockets throughout the week.

Family nights at the observatory for stargazing and using the telescopes and other materials children make will also be scheduled.
Parents are encouraged to call for more information and sign up soon as space is limited. Applications are available at the Morgan County Public Library, Portals, the Boy’s and Girl’s Club and Community Garden Market.
