Beware of stop sign
Dear Editor:
As a Morgan County resident, I figure you all should know about the change of this stop sign, near Tony’s Restaurant.
As I was not aware of this change, I got pulled over by Officer L.A. Marshall recently, telling me he had pulled me over because I failed to stop at the stop sign. I was telling him I did nothing wrong! Because I had stopped at the stop sign on Mercer Street. But indeed it was not that stop sign. It was the one before that coming down from Davis Road and Hospital Hill.
For many years, that particular sign said stop, (except for turning right). Well, as a Morgan County resident unaware of this change, I proceeded in driving around as usual. I have to give it to him, because I was at fault. I was being mad the whole time.
But he did indeed sit there, knowing he was going to get someone and that was me and probably others. He never did tell me that particular stop sign was the cause of my ticket.
I feel that Morgan County residents should have been made aware of this change. I know I’m not the only one that has driven around the stop sign and not stopped when going right, because for many years we did what the sign said.
Better get use to stopping. It has been changed without notification.
