Franklin C. Ziegler

1939-2010

Franklin Conklin Ziegler, 71, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at his home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born January 16, 1939 in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late George Shannon, Sr. and Ella Grace Flater Ziegler.

He was of the Methodist faith.

He attended Catonsville High School and served with the U.S. Coast Guard from 1957-1961 and was a lifetime member of the USGGC Ingham Association.
He retired in 1989, at the rank of captain, from the Baltimore County Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Ann Reid Ziegler, at home; two sons, Franklin Conklin Ziegler, Jr., Parkville, Md. and Kurt Warren Ziegler, Pasadena, Md.; one sister, Margaret MacGovern, Woodstock, Md.; one grandson, Carson Davis Ziegler, Parkville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Shannon Ziegler, Jr.

A memorial service was held Sunday, June 13 at the Ambrose Funeral Home, Lansdowne, Md. Interment private.
