John W. Rudd

1929-2010

John Watson Rudd, 80, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

Born October 18, 1929 in Ravenna, Ohio, he was the son of the late Gerald P. and Nina Mae Watson Rudd.

He was a 1947 graduate of Ravenna High School. He graduated from Kent State University in 1951 with a Liberal Arts degree.

He was in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. He was stationed in San Diego, Calif. and went onto Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I. His last assignment was on the U.S.S. Carrier Randolph.

He was employed with Acacia Life Insurance Company and retired in 1985 as a vice-president of the company.

He is survived by a life partner, William A. Reitz, Berkeley Springs and one sister, Helen Baxter, Ravenna, Ohio.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard O. Rudd.

Committal services at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna, will be at a later date.
