Dance festival will follow Barge Bash in Hancock
Nancy Douglas and Carolyn Clingerman came up with an idea as a way to prolong the festivities following the Barge Bash which will take place earlier in the day on Saturday, June 26.
The event, now whimsically titled “Dancing in the Street” will take place at the Joseph Hancock Jr. Park at 3 p.m.
“The general idea is by the end of the evening you’ll want to be dancing in the street,” Douglas laughed.
Douglas and Clingerman are now working with the organization Hancock in Motion to sponsor the event.
CNB Bank, Inc. and Douglas Motors are also helping to coordinate the dance.
First scheduled to appear is DJ Fossil & Company with a wide variety of music from 3 to 5 p.m.
Beginning at 5 p.m., local band Out of Order will perform until 8 p.m.
The band plays a mix of class rock, country 80’s and current hits.
Both will perform in the park’s pavilion.
Douglas hopes to see young people and all ages from Hancock and Berkeley Springs attend the dance.
“Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for a good old fashioned festival,” said Douglas.
A classic car show is expected to take place at the former Subway lot during the festivities.
Food vendors will be on site throughout the evening.
In the event of inclement weather, the dance will be moved to the Community Center stage.
