Hospital breaks ground Friday
After several years of planning, Valley Health and War Memorial Hospital will begin construction of a new hospital in Berkeley Springs on Friday.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the replacement facility will be June 4 at 10 a.m. along the west side of Fairview Drive approximately 1.5 miles from the present hospital.
The public is encouraged to attend and be part of healthcare history of Morgan County. “We received tremendous support from the community during the approval process for the new hospital,” said Neil McLaughlin, president of War Memorial Hospital. “We would like to see a large crowd attend and be a part of this long-awaited, exciting chapter in the history of War Memorial and Morgan County.”
The new facility is estimated to cost approximately $30 million and be about 87,000 square feet. Plans call for 25 acute care/skilled care beds, and 16 long-term care beds.
The estimated completion date for the new hospital is spring of 2012.
