Audubon birding walk at NCTC
The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will sponsor a birding walk at the National Conservation Training Center near Shepherdstown on Saturday, May 22.
The event is free and anyone with an interest is welcome to participate.
Participants will bird the various habitats on the Center's 538-acre campus, including wooded trails, meadows, edge areas and hedgerows. They will make a stop to observe the bald eagle nest on property and have opportunities to observe various warblers, vireos, thrushes, scarlet tanagers and other species of birds.
Participants should check in at the Security Gate inside NCTC and meet at 8 a.m. in the reception area of the main building at NCTC. Security will tell one where to park.
Because of the security requirements at NCTC, this trip will require pre-registration at least five days beforehand (by May 17). To pre-register, contact Sandy Sagalkin at 301-432-6847.
