Answers expected soon in Virginia murder case

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Department in Frederick County, Va. said they may soon be able to announce a break in the case involving the February murder of Margaret Marie Landis, 62, of Reynold’s Store.

Investigator K.C. Bohrer said Monday that he hopes to get the results of forensic testing around May 1.

Landis was found stabbed in her home on February 16 after the friend of a neighbor plowed out her driveway because of concerns for her well-being during that month’s blizzards.

Landis’ son, Edward Kline, who was her closest neighbor, found her body and reported her death to police.

Police said Landis had been stabbed three times by a long, thin weapon, and had been dead for close to a week before she was found.

Landis lived just feet over the Virginia state line and had family ties to Morgan County.
