Feeling picked on
Dear Editor:
As a taxpayer and a lifelong resident, I see that an out-of-stater gets less attention than in-staters.
A couple of weeks ago, I stopped and got a jug of water from Berkeley Springs State Park. As I was proceeding back to my truck which only took me about three minutes, the meterman jumped out of his car and was writing up a ticket.
He told me, “Sorry, Girly I just got a phone call that someone was parked along the yellow line!”
So, I took my ticket and left. The following week, I stopped and got another jug of water. I parked my truck at the meter and saw a red car parked at the same spot along the yellow line. I waited and waited at least 15 to 20 minutes, but no meterman. Where was the caller?
I walked behind the car. Guess what? It was an out-of-stater.
I guess Berkeley Springs makes more money from out-of-towners than from lifelong residents.
Also, I did pay my ticket, which was $20.
