Politics as a team sport

Dear Editor:

I cannot agree more with last week’s article by David Abner about the lack of compromise existing in the United States Congress. These people do not seem to care about the citizens of this country. All they seem to care about is themselves.

They have turned the governing of this country into a team sport. It’s the Republican team against the Democrat team. The winner of the game is decided by which team can make the other team look the worst, and thereby win a few more seats in the next election.

With respect to the new health care bill, if they really wanted to do something positive, they would work together from the start instead of each team ( I mean party) writing up their own bill and trying to jam it down the other teams throat. Both sides are at fault here.

If they don’t get their stuff together soon, the voters are going to start voting for new faces, and they may not be from either team. We do have the option of voting for Libertarians, Mountain Party and others who do not belong to either of the present teams. We need some new faces down there. Our present representatives are not getting the job done.
