Gladys B. Harper

1920-2007

Gladys Belue Harper, 87, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Heartland of Martinsburg, Martinsburg.

Born October 26, 1920 in Colbert County, Ala., she was the daughter of the late David Nathan and Bessie Ida Harrell Belue.

She was of the Protestant faith.

In 1951, she received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Montevallo in Alabama.

She taught Home Economics in the public school system, retiring in 1974.

She then operated a tailoring and dressmaking business.

She was a member of Retired School Teachers of West Virginia.

She liked cats, sewing and gardening.

She is survived by one daughter, Ione Harper Truesdale, Townsend, Del. and one son, John William Harper, New York City, N.Y.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Belue.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 22 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
