Auditions for Ice House spring play
The Morgan Arts Council is holding auditions for William Shakespeare's "Hamlet, Prince of Denmark" on Monday, December 10 at Berkeley Springs High School auditorium. Times are 3:30 to 5 p.m. for high school age actors and 5:30 to 7:30 for adults and children under high school age. If necessary, call backs are scheduled for December 12 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ice House.
All roles are open to be cast.
"Hamlet is the Mount Everest of plays for actors," said director, Gary McDaniel. "I encourage any actor looking for a challenge to audition. It will take dedication, however."
There are 10 principal roles in the play for adult and high school males and females. To audition for those roles, actors must memorize a classical monologue, preferably from Shakespeare. Supporting roles are numerous and substantial for males and females and do not require a prepared monologue.
Berkeley Springs Library has copies of the play in its collection.
Performances are March 7-9 and 13-16, 2008 at the Ice House. A rehearsal schedule will be available at the auditions.
