Ruth E. Palmer

1942-2007

Ruth E. Smith Palmer, 65, of Greencastle, Pa., died Saturday, November 17, 2007 at her home.

Born February 28, 1942, in Warfordsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clem G. and Anna Lee Smith Smith.

She was a 1959 graduate of Southern Fulton High School and a 1962 graduate of Harrisburg, Pa. Nursing School.

She was a nurse at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs and Western Maryland Center in Hagerstown.

She was a member of Otterbein United Brethren Church.

She is survived by her husband, Ray A. Palmer, whom she married July 28, 1962; one daughter, Renee L. Goodwin, Greencastle; one son, Scott A. Palmer, Greencastle; six sisters, Nancy J. Northcraft and Marjorie M. McGuire, both of Warfordsburg, Pat Smith, Three Rivers, Calif., Faye L. Smith, Heavener, Okla., Leona B. Hahn, Everett, Pa. and Brenda L. Lawrence, Harrisburg; one brother, Leon R. Smith, Warfordsburg; four grandchildren; one stepgrandchild and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Seth M. Parish and Allen L. Smith.

Services will be today, Wednesday, November 21, at 10 a.m. at Otterbein United Brethren Church, Greencastle. The Rev. David G. Rawley will officiate. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, Pa.
