Cathy and Jim Rummel opened Cathy's Art, an art, jewelry, gift shop and studio, on October 5. The shop is located at 91 N. Washington Street, beside Mi Ranchito Mexican Restaurant.

The store displays and sells Cathy Rummel's original oil paintings and handcrafted jewelry.

A studio is located at the back of the store where Rummel, a painter with over 20 years experience, teaches classes on landscape, floral and wildlife painting. Workshops on knitting and crochet are also available.

"Art classes are usually held on Saturday and Sunday," Rummel said. An open house is scheduled Saturday, November 17.

Rummel is a Certified Bob Ross instructor and graduate of North Light Art School of Dayton, Ohio.

"My mission is to share my God-given talents so that others might enjoy the arts," Rummel said.

The store carries a large variety of art supplies including, oil paints, water colors, canvases, drawing pencils and drawing supplies, frames and glue guns for crafts.

Cathy and Jim Rummel have lived in the area for 14 years and currently reside in Hancock.

Cathy's Art is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday - Saturday. Sunday hours are 1 - 5 p.m. For more information about the store, telephone 304-258-5319.
