Indians sweep home Cross Country meet

Lenny Roach and Rachel Buser each won individual titles while leading their respective teams to victory in a cross country meet held at Warm Springs Middle School on Tuesday, October 2.

The boys team easily beat Paw Paw, 16 to 45, while the girls won uncontested. Even if the other teams would have had full squads it is unlikely they would have had any chance of beating the Indians, since the Tribe finished one, two, three, five.

Kari Mundey finished second in the girls race, Katie Close third and Chelsea Hessler fifth.

Loren Holiday, from Paw Paw, finished sixth.

Roach was followed to the finish line by John Mundey, Jake Wise and Denny Golden, with Steve Smith placing sixth, as the Tribe easily defeated Paw Paw.

Ben Mann led Paw Paw with a fifth place finish, followed by Logan Stotler (11), Ron Fixfield (12) and Nick Corbett (14).

Also running for Berkeley Springs was James Dimitoff who finished seventh and Bill Reese who was 13th.

"I thought our kids ran hard today," said Berkeley Springs coach John Rowland. "We had several that bettered their time, even though the competition wasn't as keen as they faced earlier at the Berkeley Springs Invitational."

Berkeley Springs will finish the regular season today, October 10, when they compete for Apple Valley League Championship at Poor House Farms.
