Morningside to hold annual holiday bazaar
At the September monthly meeting at First United Methodist Church, Morningside members were urged to collect and price the items for their upcoming Holiday Bazaar to be held at Francis Asbury Methodist Church on October 26 and 27. There also will be raffle tickets available for four drawings.
The meditation was given by Ann Ladd and September birthdays were recognized for Barbara Carr, Marlene Hannon and Barbara Spitzer.
Officers, programs and hostesses for 2008 were finalized. Chairpersons gave reports for the Continuing Education, Family and Marketing/Membership committees.
Sonia Thurmond reported that Morningside members had accumulated 13,574 hours of volunteer time from September 2006-August 2007; 1,000 hours more than last year. Ruth Jones stated the next Boo Boo Bear Workshop will be November 2 at WMH. Ann Smith reminded the members of the combined Achievement Luncheon/ Council Meeting at the Country Inn at noon on Wednesday, November 14.
Selma Strauss gave an update on programs to be offered at War Memorial Hospital as follows: Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon on October 1 at noon; Book Fair October 3, Jewelry Party November 9 and Bake Sale on November 29. All proceeds will benefit the Hospital Auxiliary.
