Audubon birdseed sale underway
The Potomac Valley Audubon Society's 26th annual fall birdseed sale is underway. The sale is open to all residents of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and Washington County, Md. The society is offering a variety of premium-quality seeds and seed mixes, as well as suets. All the seed is the freshest available just harvested in the Great Plains. The seed is competitively priced, and purchasers pay no sales tax since the Society is a non-profit organization.
All proceeds from the sale are used to support the Society's Youth Camp Scholarship program, which provides area school children with scholarships to attend summer nature camps in the region and elsewhere.
Order forms that include price information and full details about the sale are available on the PVAS website at www. potomacaudubon.org or from Diana Mullis at 304-267-3482. All orders must be placed by October 15.
Seed will be available for pickup between 10 a.m. and 12 noon on Saturday, November 10, at three locations: the Gowers Feeds Inc. stores in Ranson, W.Va. and Williamsport, Md. and the Hunter's Hardware Store warehouse in Berkeley Springs.
For those who would like to buy seed in large quantities but lack storage space the Society offers the option of free storage at the Gowers stores in Ranson and Williamsport. Those who choose this option can draw their seed from those locations as needed through the end of next June.
