Donald Chamblee, Sr.
1921-2007
Donald Wilson Chamblee, Sr., 86, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, September 23, 2007 at his home.
He was born in Zebulon, N.C., March 15, 1921, son of the late Leon Green Chamblee and Ethel O'Neal Chamblee.
He was administrator for the Department of Motor Vehicles, Safety Reponsibility Divison in Washington, D.C.
He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Berkeley Springs.
He was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran; and member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion, Post #60, Berkeley Springs.
Surviving are his wife Alice Hasenbulher Chamblee; three sons, Donald W. Chamblee, Jr, Hughesville, Md., Philip K. Chamblee and Gregory O. Chamblee, both of Charles Town; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Jessie Jones, Lois Brantley, Thelma E. Rogers and five brothers, Leslie Braxton, Victor, Worth and Perry Chamblee.
A funeral liturgy will be held at Saint Peters Catholic Church, Hancock, Thursday, September 27, 10 a.m. with Celebrant Father Joseph C. Mercieca, TOR. Burial will be at Greenway Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Tri-State Honor Guard.
Friends will be received today Wednesday, Spetember 26 from 7-9 p.m. at the Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home 36 South Green Street, Berkeley Springs. The funeral home will be open all day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.
