Wayne L. M. Shanholtz
1944-2007
Wayne Leo Matthew Shanholtz, 63, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, September 23, 2007 at his home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born February 5, 1944 in Magnolia, he was the son of the late Harry McGee and Mary Elizabeth Shambaugh Shanholtz.
He was a member of Faith in God Chapel.
He was a 1962 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.
He worked for 22 years as a carpenter with Tom Seely Furniture.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He had been a member of Risinger-Stotler V.F.W. Post #4019 and Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60, both in Berkeley Springs.
He liked woodworking, calligraphy and was a gifted cartoonist.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pamela Jean Barney Shanholtz, at home; one son, Jay Edwards, Glen Burnie, Md.; one daughter, Wendy Charrise Schur, Berkeley Springs; two grandchildren, Samantha Shanee Schur and Kye Matthew Schur, both of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Rachel Haugh, Winchester, Va. and Mary Jane Shanholtz, Martinsburg; two brothers, Holland Shanholtz, Martinsburg and Harry Lee Shanholtz, Shepherdstown; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday, September 28 at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, where services will be conducted at 3 p.m. with Pastor Ken Dyar officiating. Interment with military graveside honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.
