Boys soccer team crushes Keyser in season opener
Berkeley Springs boys soccer team kicked off the 2007 soccer season on Friday, August 17 in Keyser, with a convincing 10-1 win over the Golden Tornado.
The Indians dominated from the beginning, outshooting their Mineral County rival 35-7, on their way to the lopsided victory.
Matt Martin, a junior, scored the first goal of the season for Berkeley Springs giving the Tribe a quick 1-0 lead, before fellow junior Josh Wise added three more goals to give the Indians a comfortable halftime cushion.
Berkeley Springs continued its domination in the second half with Martin collecting his second goal of the game, while Jacob Wise, Ian Whibley, Ben Earl, Sueng Hon and Matthew Stevens scored one goal each. Whibley added three assists, Jacob Wise two, Gudiel Guzman, Martin and Cody Riffle added one apiece.
Brain Francis recorded five saves for Berkeley Springs and Dustin Triplett two.
The Indians will try and improve to 2-0 on the year when they host Petersburg this Friday, August 24.
