Daphne A. Souders

1930-2007

Daphne Aleta Souders, 77, of Mercersburg, Pa., died Saturday, August 4, 2007 at the Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born June 20, 1930 in Fulton County, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Martin A. and Bessie Jane Myers Dyer.

She was the widow of Merrill M. Souders who died August 4, 1991.

She retired in 1975 as a waitress for the Park-n-Dine Restaurant in Hancock after 20 years and she was a homemaker. She and her husband operated an orchard.

She was a member of the Rehobeth United Methodist Church and a member of the AARP.

She is survived by three daughters, Judy Shaw, Mercersburg, Dixie Chaupka, Berkeley Springs and Nancy Powell, Warfordsburg, Pa; two sons, Foster Souders, Greencastle, Pa. and Robert Souders, Winchester, Va.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Juanita McGehee, one sister, Charolette Souders and one brother, John Dyer.

A service will be held today, Wednesday, August 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock. Rev. George Lashley will officiate.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:30 p.m.
