Potomac Airpark up for sale

The new owner of Potomac Airpark has listed the airport for sale on eBay, with a selling price of $1.4 million.

River Bottom, LLC bought the property from U.S. Silica on July 20. The deed filed with the Morgan County Office of Records lists Melinda B. Golden as the sole and managing member of the limited liability corporation. The address of the corporation is a private residence on Tollgate Ridge Road, Hancock.

Shortly after the sale of the airpark to River Bottom, U.S. Silica General Counsel Jim Manion had said nothing had changed with the operation of the airport. He said U.S. Silica would continue to keep their airplane there.

According to a listing on the airpark's website, the property consists of approximately 220 acres along the banks of the Potomac River.

The property includes a 5,000 ft. runway and 20,000 sq. ft. of aircraft hangar space in six buildings. Also included is a 21-acre island in the Potomac River, which is in Washington County, Md.

The website also states that the airpark "has potential

for development" and that there is no zoning for the main parcel of land in Morgan County.

The island in Washington County is zoned as a Preservation District. The entire parcel of land is in the Potomac River flood plain.

The website suggests that the land could be a location for

an air club, RV camping,

hunting, fishing biking and hiking. The sale listing suggests the site could be turned into a drag strip.
