50th anniversary

Ercel and Donna Didawick celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a party given by their children Jan and Mark Didawick at the George Washington Suite at Cacapon State Park on Sunday, June 24. They were married June 21, 1957.

Kenny Michael of Berkeley Springs led the blessing before the buffet. Best man Herbert Eppinger and maid of honor Mildred Johnson Close, sister of the bride, were in attendance. After the dinner, a video "Hands of Time" produced by Jan and Ron Didawick commemorating the couple's 50 years together was shown.

During the evening's activities, a plaque representing a dowry given by her mother Opal Johnson after "testing" his loyalty to her daughter for 50 years with the guests being her witness was given to him to add a "lighter side" of the evening.

A three-tiered anniversary cake baked by Linda Hampe of Berkeley Springs was decorated white with pink roses, colors of the bride.

The live band "Don and the Starlighters" of Hagerstown and Steve Michael, friend of the couple, who as a teenager attended the wedding, provided the music.

Friends and family from West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia attended the celebration. at a party given by their children Jan and Mark Didawick at the George Washington Suite at Cacapon State Park on Sunday, June 24. They were married June 21, 1957.
