MCOF Astronomy/Rocketry Summer Camp
Morgan County Observatory will be conducting a youth Astronomy and Rocketry summer camp this year for two separate weeks from August 6-10 and 13-17 for kids seven years old and up. the camp will meet at the observatory for a half day 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. session, with Friday evening viewing programs using observatory telescopes to include the kids, their families and guests.
Kids will learn about the history of rocketry from Robert Goddard to NASA's current programs while building and launching their own model rockets. Astronomical subjects such as constellations and their mythology, the sun and sunspots, the reason for the seasons, formation of the universe, telescope building, light and spectroscopy and much more will be presented with fun hands-on activities.
Registration forms are available at Morgan County Public Library and the Boys and Girls Club. There are still a few spots open for each week. Limited scholarships are available on a need basis. Space is limited. Call 304-258-1013 for more information and fee.
