H. Cletus Nesmith

1935-2007

Herman Cletus Nesmith, 72, of Williamsport, Md., died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at his home.

Born May 18, 1935, in Unger W. Va., he was the son of the late Irving P. "Pete" and Martha P. Catlett Nesmith.

He was a 1953 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.

He served four years each in the U.S. Army reserves and the U.S. Navy reserves.

He was the owner and operator of Westview Texaco Service Station on Maugans Avenue in Hagerstown from 1966-1976. He was employed at Roadway Express for more than 20 years retiring in 1998.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, Md.

He was a 32nd degree Mason. He was also a member of the Ali Ghan Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S. of Cumberland, Md., Hagerstown Shrine Club Sayara Unit, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry S.J., USA 32nd degree, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Hagerstown Forest No. 95, Medairy Lodge No. 140 A.F. & A.M., Williamsport, B.P.O. of the Elks Lodge No. 378 Hagerstown, Improved Order of Red Men No. 84 Williamsport, Teamsters Retiree Local No. 992 and the AARP.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nellie McKee Nesmith; one daughter, Alisa Nesmith Cooper of Northern Virginia; one son, Scott P. Nesmith of Willliamsport; three granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.

The Medairy Lodge No. 140 A.F. and A.M. Williamsport had a Masonic service. Tuesday, June 5 at the Funeral home.

Services will be at 1 p.m., today, Wednesday, June 6, at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. David R. Brosnan will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.
