Skate park designer here June 11 for public meeting
World-famous bike/skate park designer Nate Wessel of Wesselbuilt, LLC is the designer for the Berkeley Springs Bike and Skate Park (BS2). He will present and discuss his designs for BS2 on June 11 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Every member of the community is welcome and the event is free; light snacks will be available for purchase at Oasis Cafe, 51 Independence Street, Berkeley Springs.
The community may participate in the design process by attending this meeting. According to the process agreed upon with BS2, Wessel produced a first set of designs earlier this year for examination and revision by BS2 lead organizers. The designs Wessel presents on June 11 will reflect these revisions. Gaining the community's input on the designs is part of the purpose of this meeting.
Wessel is a BMXer and skateboarder, a former fine arts student, and a world-renowned designer of parks which can be safely used by both BMX bikers and skateboarders. He has worked recently in Russia, Guam and the Grand Canyon, and regularly designs for the X-Games as well as highly innovative parks throughout the United States. As can be clearly seen in the designs for BS2's park, Wessel custom-designs each park to meet the needs of its community and take advantage of the opportunities of its location.
BS2 has been youth-driven since its inception over five years ago. Young members of the Berkeley Springs community are its lead organizers, assisted by supportive adults, town and county government, and local businesses.
Gifts to BS2 are tax-deductible if made out to "Town of Bath Police Department Bike/Skate Park Fund." Mail to BS2, PO Box 117, Berkeley Springs, 25411-0117. BS2 organizers strongly encourage youth and adults to participate in making the park a reality. Contact Beth Raps at 258-2533 for further information.
