William T. Ennis

1920-2007

William Thomas Ennis, 86, Grantsville, Md, (Goodwill Mennonite retirement Community) died Saturday, April 28, 2007.

Born November 24, 1920 at Brooklyn N.Y., he was the son of the late William Nelson and Gertrude Marie McCormick Ennis.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jo Waits Ennis; three sons, Bill Ennis, Jr., Ocean View, Del., John Mark Ennis, Washington, D.C., and David Ennis, Middletown, Md; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Harris, Plainview, N.Y,; one brother, Robert Ennis, Stone Mountain, Ga.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW2 serving as a pilot of a B-17.

He was an ordained Baptist minister, held a Bachelor of Theology degree from Orthodox Baptist Institute, Ardmore, Okla., attended NYU, Kansas State University and three years of Hebrew studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. He had served as pastor of two Baptist churches in Texas and had a radio ministry in Houston, Texas and also in Berkeley Springs. He served 29 1/2 years as a missionary with Chosen People Ministries.

He was a member of Welsh Memorial Baptist Church, Frostburg, Md.

Services were at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, Tuesday, May 1, with the Rev. Chris Walls and the Rev. George Hopkins officiating. Interment was at the Maryland State Veteran's Cemetery, Rocky Gap, Flintstone, Md.
