Dane L. Ward

1928-2007

Dane L. "Porge" Ward, 78, of Warfordsburg, Pa., died Saturday, April 21, 2007, at his home.

Born July 26, 1928, in Buck Valley, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles and Ruie Hendershot Ward.

He retired from Leaseway Motor Freight in Baltimore.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Mary H. Shank, whom he married April 30, 1954; two sons, Ricky Ward, Pasadena, Md., and Dean A. Ward, Dundalk, Md; one stepdaughter, Dena Miller, Greencastle, Pa; four sisters, Delma Carnell and Emma Ward both of Hancock, Helen Barnhart, Warfordsburg and Mary J, Young, Berkeley Springs; two brothers, Glenn Ward, Warfordsburg and Richard Ward, Hancock; four step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and neices and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Darryl E. Ward; one sister, Beatrice Carnell; and two brothers, Claude Ward and Roger Ward.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 25 at 2 p.m. at Buck Valley Memorial Cemetery, Warfordsburg, where military services will be conducted by Tri-State Honor Guard. The Rev. Adam Leeper will officiate.
