Berkeley Springs netters fall to Musselman

Both the Berkeley Springs girls and boys tennis teams lost to Musselman on Monday, April 12 in Bunker Hill. The girls were shut out by the Lady Applemen 7-0, while the boys lost 6-1.

Eric Lyda, the number one singles player for the Tribe, defeated Cort Grubb 8-2 for the only win on the day. John Body defeated Logan Lyda 8-5, Ben Sencindiver downed Dan West 8-0 and Chris Hile defeated Ian Whibley. Lyda and Lyda fell to Grubb and Boyd 8-2 in the number one doubles match, Hite and Senscindiver edged Whibley and Josh Wise 7-7 (7-2), while Clay Raines and Carl Schultz defeated West and John Gordon 8-1.

Kelsey Swaim lost to Brooke Butler 8-1 in the number one girls singles match. Jessica Sheppard lost to Sarah White 8-3, Meghan Ambrose fell 8-0 to Cherie Butler and Mandy Chapman got by Brittany Fox 8-5. All three doubles teams of Swaim and Ambrose, Sheppard and Emily Hornbaker along with Caity Hott and Fox lost 8-1.

The tennis team will play at St. Maria Goretti on April 18 and at Jefferson County on April 20.
