Candidates nowfiling in Paw Paw

Only a few candidates announced in the first week of filing season for Paw Paw town office.

Ken Crites filed for mayor, a post now held by Julie Kidwell. Elected as town recorder in 2005, Kidwell became mayor when Jeff Palmer resigned last fall.

Incumbent Rose Newlon, seeking reelection, was the first to file for a town council seat. Karen Hayes and Alton Wolfe, Jr. have also filed for council.

A mayor, town recorder and five council members will be elected in the municipal election on Tuesday, June 5.

Candidates must be town residents. Certificates of announcements are available at Paw Paw Town Hall during normal business hours.

The last day for Paw Paw candidates to file is Tuesday, April 17.
