50th anniversary

Robert and Louise Hoard celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 23. They started dating their senior year at University High School, Morgantown. After graduating high school in 1955, she attended business school while he went to West Virginia University. But before graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he spent 30 years. During their years in the Navy they were stationed in Hawaii, Maine, Puerto Rico, California, England, Virginia and Washington D.C. They have two children, Brenda Stahl and Michael Hoard, four grandchildren: Watson and Benjamin Stahl and Ashley and Andrew Hoard. After he retired from the Navy on November 1, 1990, they moved back to their home state of West Virginia, near Berkeley Springs. They joined Francis Asbury Methodist Church. For the past 15 years she has directed the multi congregational Summer Vacation Bible School. They have even started a Clown and Puppet Ministry that performs in many of the local churches as well as out of state churches.
