Assessor fined for false info

The Morgan County Assessor has pled no contest to making a fraudulent application for a hunting and fishing license.

John Allen Swaim, 65, of Mountain Run Road, Berkeley Springs, was charged with making false application for a lifetime infant hunting and fishing license. The charge was brought by Natural Resources Sgt. T. R. Stuckey on January 7.

Swaim was accused of trying to buy the lifetime license for a relative who lives in Bedford, Pa. When Natural Resources officers checked out the application, they alleged that Swaim had used his own Berkeley Springs address on the form. Lifetime licenses are for state residents.

After pleading no contest to the ticket, Swaim was fined $20 plus $160.50 court costs, for a total of $180.50.
