Chamber of Commerce sets Community Volunteer Day
Morgan County's Community Volunteer Day will be celebrated on Saturday, April 28, with the 24th annual awards brunch.
Organized by the Berkeley Springs-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, the April 28 awards ceremony is designed to honor an outstanding few of the hundreds of dedicated volunteers who provide many needed services in Morgan County.
Morgan County civic groups, clubs and regional organizations serving the area have been invited to participate by designating one person to be their honored volunteer. The purpose for the honor, criteria and method of selection is left to each individual group. The deadline for all nominations and supporting biographical material to be submitted to the Chamber office is April 12.
Over the past 23 years more than 100 organizations have participated annually, honoring 601 individuals, 17 couples, a ladies auxiliary, two clubs, a band, fire department and newspaper (representing over 3.9% of Morgan County's population).
The brunch, open to the public, will be held at the South Morgan Fire Hall, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Any organization wishing to participate or for further information, contact Beth Peters Curtin at the Chamber of Commerce office, 258-3738.
