Frankfort pulls away from Indians in 67-55 victory
Frankfort outscored Berkeley Springs 20 to 8 in the fourth quarter in Ridgely, on Tuesday, January 9, to beat the Indians 67-55.
The two teams played as evenly as two teams can through the first three quarters of action, before Frankfort seized control of the game.
Frankfort got four points each from Saige Shepherd and Brandon House in the opening quarter to grab a two-point lead, 16-14. Foster Sirbaugh, who had scored five points in the opening quarter, singed the nets for seven more in the second quarter, leading the Indians to a 32-20 half-time lead.
Nathan Sirbaugh scored six, third-quarter points, Foster four, Sammy Trump three and Robbie Williams two, but Frankfort tallied two more points in the quarter to tie the game at 47-47 heading into the game's final stanza.
"We were in good shape on the road with eight minutes left in the game," said Berkeley Springs coach Chad Brinegar. "We simply did not shoot the ball well enough at the end of the game. We were missing a couple of kids, but we still had our chances. We also must do a better job on the boards to compete game in and game out."
Foster Sirbaugh scored six more points in the final quarter to end with a game-high 22 points. Nathan Sirbaugh added 14 points, Robbie Williams seven, L.J. Wright five, Sammy Trump three, while Jeremy Michael and Jerry Parker scored two points each.
Dean Dayton and Shepherd led the Falcons with 17 and 15 points, respectively.
With the loss, Berkeley Springs fell to 4-5 on the year.
