Grant workshop for artists
The West Virginia Commission on the Arts announced a deadline of January 31 for its Professional Development grant program which provides funds directly to West Virginia artists, and to organizations providing services to artists. Grants may be up to $2,500 to individual artists for equipment, training, marketing and travel or $5,000 to organizations.
To coach artists and organizations in preparing successful grants for this program, the Morgan Arts Council is conducting a free workshop on Wednesday, January 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ice House in Berkeley Springs. The workshop is taught by Jeanne Mozier, one of West Virginia's most successful grant writers in the arts field. Mozier has also served on panels reviewing this category of grant proposal.
No registration is necessary but individuals planning to attend should take an outline and budget for the project they are considering and a copy of the grant forms as posted on the West Virginia Division of Culture and History website at www.wvculture.org. For more information contact the Morgan Arts Council at 304-258-2300. The Ice House is located at the corner of Independence and Mercer streets in downtown Berkeley Springs.
