Recent school fire drill more fun than most
During a pre-scheduled evacuation of Widmyer Elementary on November 25, 2008, students and teachers from Berkeley Springs High School successfully entertained over 400 kindergarten through second graders while they waited at the high school.
The collaborative effort between Berkeley Springs High School, Widmyer Elementary and the Morgan County Partnership made for a fun and entertaining afternoon.
The festivities included a skit about the Three Little Pigs presented by the high school's Rachel's Challenge group, which emphasized the importance of reading.
The high school's Prevention Resource Officer, Kevin Barney, and Guidance Counselor, Randy Lucas, together with members from the school's RAZE team, then presented a skit and a discussion that focused on peer pressure and bullying.
In addition, math teacher Pete Gordon and his son, John Gordon, played their guitars and sang fun and heartwarming songs with the elementary students.
Both adults and students benefited from participating in the educational and fun activities that planted a memory that will be remembered long after the day's event.
