Regional Math Field Day

Twenty-eight Morgan County students recently participated in the Regional Math Field Day Event held at Shepherd University. Two of these students placed and will be participating in the state event on April 25-26. This event will also be held at Shepherd University. Coleman Spinks, a fifth grader at Pleasant View Elementary School placed first in the regional. Robert Torres a student at Berkeley Springs High School, placed third in the high school (10-12) division.

Students participated in the Morgan County Math Field Day to qualify for the regional level competition. Winners at the county level were:

Fourth grade: Kendall White, Rhett Beddow, Matthew Ginnevan; First alternate, Edward Kowalski; Second alternate, Robert Ratcliff.

Fifth grade: Coleman Spinks, MacKenzie Michael, Matthew Summers; First alternate, Keri Shetler; Second alternate, Lauren McKee.

Sixth grade: Holland Hook, Dorothy Jane Hendershot, Taylor Risinger; First alternate, Austin Unger; Second alternate Ryan Cole.

Seventh grade: Michael Trump, Nativa Kesecker, Kyle Shambaugh; First alternate, Scott Morris; Second alternate, Kaitlin LaRue.

Eighth grade: Zachary White, Rachel Wurster, Kelsey Weimer; First alternate, Caleb Murray; Second alternate, Loguen McKee.

Ninth grade: Zachary Solomon, Rachael Blomberg, Dillion Munson; First alternate, Timothy Hofe; Second alternate, Courtney Baxter.

10-12th grade: Robert Torres, Paul Truitt, Rebecca Trump, Benjamin Earle, Corrine Martin, Katarina Napfel, John Gordon, Cory Yarrington, Ian Whibley, George Burke; First alternate, Katelyn LaBree; Second alternate, Stephanie Handlos; Third alternate, Matthew Stevens.
