Dockeney dies at 92

Edward W. Dockeney, an area journalist and community leader, died on Friday, January 4, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.

Born September 22, 1915, he spent most of his working life with newspapers and radio in Berkeley and Jefferson counties.

Before joining the U.S. Army in World War II, Dockeney worked as reporter and sports editor for The Martinsburg Journal. After the war, he joined the staff of WEPM, Martinsburg's first radio station.

From 1978 until his retirement in 1993, Dockeney was associated with the Spirit of Jefferson—Farmer's Advocate in Charles Town, as a reporter and associate editor.

His son, Edward W. Pat Dockeney, Jr., is now publisher and editor of the Spirit of Jefferson Advocate.
