James R. McFadden
1940-2007
James Roy McFadden, 67, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, December 21, 2007 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va.
Born April 22, 1940 in Millstone, Md., he was the son of the late James Russell and Virgie Eleanor Shoemaker McFadden.
He was a member of Faith in God Chapel in Berkeley Springs, where he had served as treasurer for 25 years. He served in the Bay of Pigs Invansion Force aboard the U.S.S. William M. Wood as a 2nd Class Machinist mate with the U.S. Navy.
He was a 1958 graduate of Hancock High School and retired in 2003 as a dryer operator with U.S. Silica. He was a member of the American Legion of West Virginia and Teamsters Local #992.
He is survived by his wife, H. Irene Corbin McFadden, at home; one daughter, Stacey Ann Rowe, Staunton, Va.; one brother, David Shoemaker, Berkeley Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, December 27, at Faith in God Chapel, Tabor Road, Berkeley Springs, with Pastor Ken Dyar and Rev. Paul Martin officating. Interment with military graveside rites provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard was in Bethel Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, handled the arragenments.
