Richard Dix Spielman, 75, Burlington, Vt., died Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Birchwood Terrace in Burlington.
He was born on April 19, 1932 in Berkeley Springs, son of the late Dustin and Dona Barnes Spielman.
He was a Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force serving his country during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal at Clark Air Base in the Philippines.
He met and married the former Georgette Barthoumieux, who predeceased him in May 2002.
He liked camping, boating and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had an interest in history and visited many historic sights across the United States, as well as in Europe. He retired from the military and moved to Delaware where he worked for the Federal Government in Civil Service at Dover Air Force Base until his second retirement.
He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, a member of American Legion Post 60 in Berkeley Springs, and a member of the VFW.
He is survived by two daughters, Pat Spielman-Morris, Jericho, Vt. and Kay DelliBovi, Savannah, Ga.; companion, Jeannette Roy, Burlington; four brothers, Bernard Spielman, Hancock, Denver Spielman, Killeen, Texas and Gary Spielman and Steve Spielman, both of Berkeley Springs; three grandchildren, Eric Whitehill, Fairfax, Vt., Christopher DelliBovi, Charleston, S.C. and Robert DelliBovi, New Bedford, Mass.; one great grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also predeceased by one brother and one sister.
A committal service, with full military honors, will be held in Berkeley Springs in the early summer.
