Whose duty?

Dear Editor:

In response to your article re: Sheriff Shambaugh resigning as supervisor of animal control, wasn’t that on the job description when he was elected? So, what else will he decide he doesn’t want to handle? Shall we have another election? My concern is about the animal abuse and who will help if there are such issues.

Editor’s note: As reported in our article, providing animal control is primarily a duty of the county commissioners. Former Sheriff Ronald McIntire agreed to take on the responsibility, but Sheriff Vince Shambaugh turned it back to the commissioners due to the recent controversy over the resignation of the animal control officer.
