Feeling under attack
Dear Editor:
I want to clarify what County Commissioner Stacy Dugan implied at the December 31 commission meeting. She seems to be making an issue about the fact that as acting Parks & Recreation director, I failed to apply for a grant through the U.S. Soccer Foundation Program and Field grants program that is for economically disadvantaged Urban areas encompassing populations of 50,000 or more.
Because of that, she feels Parks & Rec should not receive the trailers as a donation but should offer a bid to purchase them from the county. If this is the case, I would recommend that the County Commission, Chamber of Commerce, Travel Berkeley Springs and businesses update their websites to show that Morgan County is an Urban area, not a Rural area.
This was clearly an attack on me as acting director because Dugan just wants to have her way and auction the trailers currently used by the commissioners. She is overlooking the fact that the benefits of donating these trailers for the use of the community far outweighs the sale of the trailers.
