Walter Joseph Dugan
1923-2009
Walter Joseph Dugan, age 86, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Monday, September 28, 2009 at Autumn Acres Personal Care Center.
Born May 17, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late Sylvester and Marcella Witenski Dugan.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
He was a graduate of Schenly High School in Pittsburgh.
He retired after 38 years of service as an electronic technician with the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in Laurel, Md. He also repaired antique clocks and watches.
He was an avid Ham radio enthusiast, enjoyed fishing and flea marketing.
Walter is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeanette Marian Wolf Dugan, at home; three daughters, Marguerite Dugan, Silver Spring, Md., Patricia Dugan Cuza, Fayetteville, N.C. and Virginia Dugan Giessing, Gaithersburg, Md.; one son, James Walter Dugan, Silver Spring, Md.; four grandchildren, Joel Alexander Cuza and his wife Sara and Gina Marie Cuza, both of Fayetteville, N.C.; Kevin Daniel Giessing and Grant Owen Giessing, both of Gaithersburg, Md. and one great grandson, Noah Richard Cuza, Fayette-ville, N.C.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2009 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Liberty & South Washington Streets, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Fr. Leonard A. Smith as celebrant. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, Md. at 2:15 p.m.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., which will be open from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
