Let your voice be heard

Dear Editor:
In the midst of all the concerns about the direction of our country, remember that Democracy works best when we let our elected representatives hear from us in any credible rational fashion. Democracy should be a bottoms up, not top down, flow of information and requested action.

The congressional process is not broken. It’s the people we’ve elected to represent us who have drifted too far from the people’s needs.

The 20th Century was replete with disasters resulting from elected representatives choosing personal gain rather than the will and needs of the people they serve.

If you agree or disagree with actions taken by the current elected representatives at all levels, then let them know. There are numerous ways to contact them. People do so. Be rational and be brief. Our representatives are most likely to respond to this type of communication.

By U.S. Constitutional design, the balance between all major branches — legislative, judicial and excutive of our government — must be preserved. Our country is in serious trouble if the balance is not upheld. Debate is far better than fighting over different views. Respect all views as this is a free country.

Our freedom is at serious risk. Stay awake and active with healthy respectful debate.
