Geneva M. Custer
Geneva May Custer, 99, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Berkeley Springs Rehabilitation & Nursing.
Born April 3, 1913 in Morgan County, she was the daughter of the late Will Darl and Bessie Mae Cain Merchant.
She was a member of the Martinsburg Church of Christ.
She attended public schools in Martinsburg and had worked at Musselman’s Apple Plant in Martinsburg. She had been a homemaker in recent years.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jean Kooken of Martinsburg; one sister, Anna Marie McCumbee, Berkeley Springs; one grandson, Jamie Kooken, Martinsburg and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Custer; three sisters, Mary Virginia McDonald Hurley, Pauline Edna Asbury and Mildred Louise Michael Benavides and two brothers, Willie “Bill” Merchant and Roscoe Wilbur Merchant.
Services and burial at Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg will be private.
Arrangements are being handled by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Berkeley Springs.
