Robert J. Clay

Robert Joseph Clay, 71, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at his home.

Born October 21, 1941 in Hancock, he was the son of late Frank and Bertha Patton Clay.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He attended public schools in Hancock.

Prior to his retirement, he had worked as an asphalt laborer with Kline Construction in Hagerstown, Md.

He liked hunting, fishing and refinishing furniture.

Surviving are two daughters, Gloria Jean VanGosen, Great Cacapon, W.Va. and Jo Ann Merchant, Berkeley Springs; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Cubbage and two brothers, Ronald Clay and William Clay.

Services and interment will be private.
