James Corbett

James “Jim” Corbett, 86, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Winchester Medical Center.

Born in Hancock, January 14, 1926, he was the son of the late George “Pete” Corbett and Madeline Shives Corbett.

He was a Veteran of WWII, serving during the European Theater.

He was a retired construction supervisor for the J.C. Murphy Co.

He had attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Bob, Paul and Roger Corbett and three sisters, Linda Stahl, Wava Hoopengardner and Juanita Peters.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Barbara Clark Corbett, Berkeley Springs; one daughter, Jill Birkett, Inwood; two sons, Sammy Corbett, Wallace, N.C. and Jay Corbett, Hagerstown, Md.; two sisters, Hallie Fleegle, Hancock and Lana Patton, Williamsport, Md.; four brothers, Bill Corbett, Newark, Del., Donnie Corbett and Terry Corbett, both of Hagerstown and Ronald Corbett, Hancock; four grandchildren, Christopher, Sherrie and Heidi Corbett and Cora Birkett; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and step-mother, Loretta Corbett, Frederick, Md.

Funeral services will be held January 12, 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Route 9.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to a preferred charity.
