It’s about public safety

Dear Editor:
The recent shooting at an elementary school with a military-style rifle has shocked me into revisiting the 2nd Amendment and its meaning.

It says nothing about the type of weapons, but we could guess that the time of its authorship would mean firearms that existed in the 1780s. If we apply this logic, then the Bush Master rifles would be unconstitutional.

If we cannot solve this issue, then we should return to the black powder weapons.

The civilian arms race must end. This has now become a public safety issue.

Twenty children will never get to enjoy their Bill of Rights.
