Alta L. Johnson
Alta Lorenea Johnson, 75, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Heartland of Martinsburg in Martinsburg.
Born February 6, 1937 in Great Cacapon, she was the daughter of the late Dayton Victor and Grace Virginia Peck Kidwell.
She was a member of Love Assembly of God. She was a 1954 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School. She was a supervisor at Londontown Manufacturing Company; worked at Valley View Nursing Home and was a homemaker in recent years. She liked to travel.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bernard Elroy Johnson, Berkeley Springs; two daughters, Kathy L. Helmick, Hancock and Patsy D. Brinegar, Martinsburg, W.Va.; one sister, Mary Ellen Bly, Great Cacapon; two brothers, Alvin Eugene Kidwell and Carl Kidwell, both of Great Cacapon; four grandchildren, Erica Waugh, Megan Zahnow, Amy Marshall and Derek Helmick; two step grandchildren, Chad Brinegar and Jeffrey Brinegar; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, Randy E. Johnson; one sister, Nellie Stotler; three brothers, Earl Kidwell, Robert Kidwell and Wilbur Kidwell and an infant brother.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 13 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs with Pastor Dave Kidwell officiating. Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12 at the funeral home.
